WINTER IN THE NORTH

Winter is a wonderful season in the Northern climes. Many think of the long, dark and cold nights, but there is much more than would first meet the eye. In Norway this is one of the favourite seasons for the locals, with many people getting their large fix of fresh air though outdoor activities. Norwegians are mad about cross country skiing (you just have to look at any results from winter sports to see this)!

For a photographer, the light is soft and the sun always low, creating wonderful shadows and compositions. Heavy frosts often cover the trees in ice crystals, with beautiful, atmospheric sunrises, with the early morning mist. Often there is low cloud and fog, which I love, as at makes for really atmospheric and moody compositions.
